PC (Poly-Carbonate) is an extra dense plastic used in many industrial applications. With its high resistance and excellent insulating properties it is suitable for electronic and electric applications. PC also withstands extremely high temperatures and can be used as a flame retardant. Due to its characteristics of being a highly dense and tensile material. It has significant less bend and more rigidity than ABS per cross-sectional area. Diffused lenses are another interesting application for PC.

OUR POLYCARBONATE FILAMENT

 Our PC is a unique material which takes more heat than normal for it to extrude. It is a more demanding material to use and requires a special printer. It requires high temperatures to print and an all metal extruder is recommended. In addition to a very high temperature extrusion temperature, you will need a heated bed that can get hot enough to allow the print to stick. Due to the high temperature of the extrusion more fumes are produced than that of PLA/ABS. Print PC slower than you would typical filament, as to allow it time to heat properly and bind well with your layers. 

STORAGE

Keep PC dry and unexposed at all times. Polycarbonate absorbs some moisture (up to 2.4%) which lowers its tensile strength and can make it difficult to print. This in addition can lead to popping while printing and white stains where areas will be more brittle. Keep partially used spools in dry storage. Use a resealable bag (Ziploc) or airtight container, along with the included silica packet (few grains of rice work just as well) to absorb existing moisture. This will keep your filament from becoming unuseable and free from any dust or dirt particles.
